Prayer TNT

Fortunately, I’ve been reading Wesley L. Duewel’s book, “Touch the World through Prayer.” Wow! Every page is worthy of highlighting and making notes.

I needed the reminders of the intimacy, privilege, and passion achieved through deep and fervent prayers. There is power in prayer to change lives – ours and others.

Annie Dillard writes, “Does anyone have the foggiest idea what sort of power we so blindly invoke? Or, as I suspect, does not one believe a word of it? The churches are children, playing on the floor with their chemistry sets, mixing up a batch of TNT to kill a Sunday morning…It is madness to wear ladies’ straw hats and velvet hats to church; we should all be wearing crash helmets. Ushers should issue life preservers and signal flares; they should lash us to our pews.” (1)

Wesley Duewel reminds us, “Praise pierces the darkness, dynamites long-standing obstructions, and sends the demons of hell fleeing…. Praise is the Christian’s heavy artillery; praise is more effective in spiritual warfare than is an atom bomb in military battle.” (2)

Don’t know about you, but I’m in the mood to invoke some heavy artillery. This is Lisa Buffaloe reporting from the front lines, I’m putting on my crash helmet and praising God!
