Playing with Writing

Words produce effects on your tongue and in your mind. They reveal the nimbleness of your vocabulary and reflect your ingenious (or inept) writing style. Before you learned to scrawl words on paper, you learned to speak, and you developed a pattern of speech (probably from your parents). Have you listened to a two or three year old? Don't we often giggle over how they pronounce a word or structure a sentence? And as you listen to them, can't you see their little personalities pushing up through…See More

Mapping the Journey

Fundamental to becoming a writer is reading. When I first began my career, I wrote for horsemanship magazines and publishers. I spent a lot of time reading those publications. Of course, I spent a lot of time with horses as well. When I decided to switch from nonfiction to fiction, I was already engaged in the pleasure of reading novels. I read whatever I could get my hands on . . . provided the content was not offensive. However, my purpose for reading changed as I began to explore the idea of…See More

I'm so excited. February's Best Blog Post: In the Presence of the King (A Fiction Friday Post)

This story is adapted from a scene I edited out of a work in progress. In the Presence of the KingTamara walked the corridor to the Great Throne Room, a guard on each side and her feet trembling with each step. Had the king decided to reject her plea for sanctuary? She hadn’t been completely honest with him. Did he find out? Sure she hid the king's knight, but she was convinced that was not the only reason the king's enemy sought her life. The great oak doors swung open and she clasped her hands…See More

My Prayer - January's Top Blog Post

And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, Exodus 31:3Dear Lord,Please fill me with wisdom, and understanding, and knowledge, and all manner of workmanship to devise cunning works that touch the hearts of the saved and the unsaved. Faith, Fiction, Fun, and Fanciful's Most-Viewed November Post: Isaiah's Dance

Faith, Fiction, Fun, and Fanciful's most read post in November 2010 was the short story, Isaiah's Dance. I hope you enjoy its reposting here. The following is a fictional tale inspired by the true story of Hezekiah Smith, a Baptist preacher who started thirteen churches from Maine to New Hampshire. On one of his trips, he stopped at a public house where the guests insisted he dance. But he told the guests that he did…See More

About Me

I’m an author that loves history and the Lord Jesus Christ, my Saviour. Not too unusual for a Christian writer. However, what is unique is that I grew up on a farm near Arrowwood, Alberta, Canada and now live in California with my husband and three kids—not in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or any other major North American city.My own history as a Christian began as a child attending Vacation Bible School at the Arrowwood Gospel Mission. One of the take home papers asked when the reader…See More

Lynn Squire grew up on a farm in Southern Alberta where she spent her days playing a pioneer or a character from a book. Her imagination would take her to faraway places and on grand adventures.
But the greatest adventure she ever embarked upon began when the Lord Jesus Christ set her free from the captivity of sin and all its entrapments. He put her on a different course with Him as her captain. While she admits to occasionally straying from His intended course, her faith in Him infuses her writing.
Now residing in California with her husband and three children, Lynn corrals her vivid imagination into short stories, novels, and creative nonfiction. This led to the creation of her book Best of Faith, Fiction, Fun, and Fanciful.
