Anchored by Hope is talking about something the world has told them not to talk about.  Miscarriage, stillbirth, early infant loss, and where God is in all the flurry of emotions that swirl through a mother's heart as she tries to understand where her 'old' way of life ended, and her 'new normal' begins.  Topics range from the varying gestations of loss, infertility, carrying to term a fatal prognosis pregnancy, and even addresses the issues that change the closest of relationships.

About:

Katy and Kristie live hundreds of miles apart, yet both of their hearts journey together with one goal in mind: ministering to mothers who have experienced the loss of a baby.  They met online when Kristie began the first grief support Bible study for mothers of loss.  Kristie shared with the group her own experience. "My first miscarriage was a little girl.  I was 8 weeks, I didn't know I was pregnant until I was losing her, but I loved her anyway.  I still do. The next 4 years we struggled with infertility, then suddenly I was expecting for the third time.  My first child was 5 years old at the time.  We had 18.5 weeks to get to know our sweet baby girl, Samantha Grace.  We all loved her. Allie told her every night, "Goodnight, Sammi, I love you!" She'd play with her every day, tickling my stomach, just aching for the day when Sammi would share her room.  But Sammi would never come home to us.  When Sammi died, my heart was crushed, Allie was devastated, my husband was broken.  Our family didn't know where to go from there.  We just stood still in shock for a long time, knowing we'd never be the same, afraid and hesitant to see what would become of our family now."  But Christ's great love wrapped around Kristie and her family. God had something in mind for their future.  Their loss was not the end of the story, only the beginning.  Online outreach became Kristie's goal when she read 2 Corinthians 1:3-7.  She knew immediately what direction God wanted her to go.
 
When Katy shared her story of loss, it was very similar to Kristie's.  She too had one living child.  She had also experienced an early miscarriage.  But in September of 2008, Katy's life changed forever.  Hannah Katherine was born sleeping.  "I will never know the exact moment her tiny heart stopped beating. I will never know when the peaceful smile heaven sent began to grace her beautiful face. I do know how very much I love her. I do know I will love and miss her as long as I live...  She was beautiful. All of her tiny parts were perfect, right down to her ten little fingers and ten little toes. She was so delicate. I was overwhelmed with love and grief all at the same time."  After the first online bible study group, Katy felt transformed.  It called her closer to God, and it called her to bring others closer to God through these tragedies. She knew immediately she belonged here.  This is where Anchored by Hope was born, through the deaths of some very precious little babies born to heaven.
 
Today Anchored by Hope offers live online grief conferences, and small group Bible studies.  They have created an online directory of blogging mothers who have experienced loss called, Butterfly Mommies. (http://butterflymommies.blogspot.com/)  They share their hearts and offer hope of healing through God's love.
