Rick Acker will be our featured speaker.
Rick writes his novels while commuting to and from his "real job" as a Deputy Attorney General in the California Department of Justice. His newest thriller, When the Devil Whistles, comes out on October 1. Colleen Coble, author of the Rock Harbor series, says "When the Devil Whistles has it all: high stakes, compelling characters and a fast plot that had me gasping at the twists and turns. When he’s not writing or lawyering, he’s usually out with his
lovely wife, Anette, and their four terrific kids. Except during football season; then he spends his weekends yelling at his TV.
Rick will speak on Author Law 101—basics of copyright, defamation, publishing contracts, etc. The types of legal issues authors run into on a regular basis. This will be a reprise of a presentation he and Cara Putnam will make at the 2010 ACFW Conference in Indianapolis.
ACFW members and their guests are welcome to attend this informative and interesting event.
$12 for ACFW members and $15 for non-members. Fees go to defray the costs for lunch and the honorarium.
ACFW members will be permitted to bring copies of their books for sale. Authors will be responsible for handling their own sales.
